Time: 6 pm - 7:30 pm
Location: 700 E. Olney Rd., Norfolk, VA 23504
Occurs monthly (2-hour sessions). REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
Healing Circles are a safe, supportive, compassionate environment for self-care and healing. These respites are led by a certified & experienced circle keeper and supported by a mental health professional. Healing Circles are heart centered self-care settings that provided to groups, adolescents, adults, families and community members in and around Norfolk, Va where the individual learns to care more deeply for themselves mentally, emotionally and creatively.
Sessions include a meal and the opportunity to sign up of Mental Health First Aider training and certification that provides the skills and training to recognizes and understand the mental health non crisis and crisis situations and have the ability to provide support to their loved ones and network.
Provides basic information about the signs and symptoms of emotional and physical trauma, ways to cope with the consequences of trauma and to avoid retraumatization.
Provides information about the importance of self-care for gun violence survivors, including guidance on how to develop a self-care plan.
Many survivors have never experienced the criminal justice system and learn quickly that legal case processing is complicated. Understanding how different system agencies work and interact with one another may help survivors to navigate what lies ahead of them.
The Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) Program helps crime victims and their immediate families with the financial costs of crime. CVC covers crime-related costs such as counseling, medical treatment, funerals, and loss of income not paid by other sources. Here is general information about the CVC program and eligibility, as well as links to each state crime victim's compensation program.
